Totally agree, Ernessa! Sometimes thinking of that next goodie to make for my shop or our craft table, I should try and make something for ME!

Also - I have had things on my growing to-do list for ages. I feel terrible that it takes me so long to do something that would seem so simple to do!

How do we combat this?

Oh, Missy, I get creative fatigue all the time. It's way worse when you actually work in a creative field. Usually, I'll just wake up one morning and feel an overwhelming need to lie in bed reading all day as opposed to working on my never-ending list of projects. I also have been taking weekends off lately and spending those with my family, seeking out new adventures. This put me behind on a few things, but it's been really fun, and perhaps much needed mentally. I think, like stay-at-home moms, we artists tend to forget that we need breaks, too.

Dood, the Golden Girls weren't retired, except Sophia: Dorothy was a teacher, Rose worked at a counseling center, and Blanche worked at a museum. The whole point of them living together in the pilot was that Blanche couldn't afford the house alone but they could afford it together. I think 3 incomes plus whatever alimony/social security payments from dead husbands/Sophia's social security/etc. could pay the mortgage on a $90,000 house.

I obviously know way too much about the Golden Girls.

Oh agreed! But let's make something clear: Disney LAND and WORLD are two separate entities. Disneyland is in the middle of Anaheim, and the climate is moderate.

DisneyWORLD is in the middle of a godforsaken swamp, because land was cheap, and Walt bought a ton of it. And he is laughing his way to the undead bank.

Ugh, this is really lighting a fire under my butt. I only keep track of the points on my credit card ... and nothing else. If you're looking another series to do, I'm really interested in how other people handle keeping track of coupons and other discounts. Basically, my system is either hopping on them right away or forgetting that I have them, then getting mad when they expire. Boos all around. But how do folks keep track of all the discounts they could be getting if they only kept track?

Okay, this was AWESOME!! I am a 34 year old, black woman who grew up in the hood and one of my favorite shows to watch is Murder, She Wrote! My husband, my BFF, my mother, brother and everyone else who knows my secret teases me endlessly about this! But I don't care...I love me some Jessica Fletcher!!! I have seen almost every episode, I DVR them, I watch them on Netflix and I own a DVD of Season 1 (including the pilot). I struggle every Sunday with the decision to upgrade my cable package to that I can watch old episodes of Murder, She Wrote (and Columbo and Perry Mason) on the HMC (which is not included in our existing package). I am not sure I watch for the same reasons as you, but I am just happy that I am not alone!!

Oh and I laughed out loud at the Vanilla Ice/MCA/Reaper comment. Thanks for this!

Oh, and I should also say that I've never wanted to go back to any of the jobs I quit. When I look back on most of them, my biggest regret is not quitting sooner or in a better, more constructive way.

Nice! Oh, dude, I totally SEE you. Quitting is so hard, and I've waffled on quitting so many times, that I've ended up burning bridges because of it when I quit in a more explosive manner than perhaps originally intended. We're the same age and as I get older, I'm beginning to really firmly believe that we should spend our lives doing what we want.

But fair warning, it's going to be hard. There are psychological up and downs, and the even worse "figuring out what you want -- not what you think you want, but what you really, really want." It's so hard, I actually wrote and article about it back in 2010: http://fierceandnerdy.com/dear...

But in the end, it's totally worth it. Put in the work, keep your eyes on the prize. You'll be okay. :)

Um, Eric this is your best post ever -- seriously when we do best of reruns this year, don't try to stiff this one in lieu of another (like you did last year -- #stillbitter). I was stuck for a Mother's Day post next week -- really how many ways can you say "My mom's dead and it's effing mother's day?" But now I'm all sorts of inspired, for which I'll thank you in the post.

I have mine hard wired and are at opposite ends of the living room. The free router they gave me has Wi-Fi, so as long as your computer can find the Wi-Fi, you should be able to pretty much put it anywhere in the house.

I went to Disneyland while it was overcast and slightly drizzling two months ago, and it is the only time I've actually had fun there. The other two times I went during the summer. I'm convinced now that off-season is the best time to go. Less people, less hot, less chaos -- now that's actually magical!

I am moving into an apartment complex that is wired for FIOS. I want to have the 'puter in the den, and the tv in the living room. How close are your TV and computer to where the installer put the inside data terminal and UPS? I don't mind running a long CAT6 to, but if I don't have to that would be great. I have DirecTV now, and looked long and hard for a new place that had FIOS. I dumped C$%&st a while back, and refuse to EVER go back.

Agree on the narrative structure, I always chalk that up to cultural storytelling differences. One of the other downsides of foreign cinema is not being able to follow the movie just by listening to the dialogue when you go into the kitchen for snacks. Though we tend to crank the volume anyway... If you haven't seen Troll Hunter, which is Norwegian, you should give it a rental. Much better than the title implies. And it's short so you can watch after putting the toddler to bed!
